How Do I Start My Own Etsy Shop? Insights from anpamuca's Journey

What began as a playful side hobby has slowly grown into a shop full of designs I truly love. My Etsy store is a mix of passion projects, party goods, and the kind of creative freedom I didn’t know I needed — a space where ideas turn into colorful, custom-made details for real celebrations.

Noah’s Birthday Parties: the spark behind my party design obsession.

My Etsy store was never part of the master plan. It all started with my son’s birthday parties — I loved creating everything from the invites to the decor, thank-you tags, and all the little details in between. It wasn’t long before my fellow toddler-wrangling girlfriends were asking, ‘Can you make one for my kid’s party?’ So I did, happily — for free, because honestly, I loved it.

Unlike agency work, these projects didn’t come with client revisions, brand guidelines, or 17-person approval chains. It was just me, my ideas, and the freedom to make whatever I wanted. And sure, my designs aren’t winning Cannes Lions anytime soon — but they make me (and others!) really happy.

There’s something special about knowing someone liked what I created enough to pay for it. If I could spend hours designing for brands and clients, imagine the joy of doing it for myself.

So that’s how this little ride began: with invitations, labels, stickers — all inspired by my son. It’s been a slow but steady, organic growth of followers and clients, and every single order and review from happy moms still makes my day.

Kind words from moms who’ve brought my designs to life.

Little by little, this whole journey has become a learning experience — and honestly, a bit of a personal transformation too. I’ve started paying attention to trends, what people like, and how it differs from what I like. (Spoiler: they don’t always match.) I even find myself liking colors I never thought I’d touch — like pink! I never considered myself a “girly girl,” but somehow, pink has crept into both my shop and my own stuff. Princess energy? Maybe just a little.
